SproutMap takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. We've written it to be readable — not just legally defensible.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account registration: name, email address, password
- Garden data: bed layouts, plant selections, seed inventory, planting records
- Community content: posts, comments, and photos you share publicly
- Contact form submissions: name, email, message content, topic
- Payment information: processed entirely by Stripe — we do not store your card details
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: GPS coordinates used to generate your personalized planting schedule and elevation-adjusted frost dates. Location data is used to calculate your growing conditions — we do not sell or share precise location data with third parties.
- Device and usage data: browser type, operating system, pages visited, features used, time and date of access
- IP address: used for fraud prevention on free tier and general security
- Cookies and similar technologies: session management, authentication, and basic analytics
1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect financial account information (Stripe handles payments)
- We do not store photos or images you upload beyond the active session unless you explicitly save them to your account
- We do not collect information about minors under 13 intentionally (see Section 9)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve the SproutMap service, including personalized planting schedules
- Process your subscription and manage billing through Stripe
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, subscription receipts, password resets)
- Send marketing and nurture emails — you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email
- Respond to your contact form submissions and support requests
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Analyze usage patterns to improve product features and user experience
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your garden data, plant choices, or growing location for advertising targeting.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:
3.1 Service Providers
We work with the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Stripe — payment processing. Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
- GoHighLevel — email marketing and CRM. Your name, email, subscription status, and engagement data are shared with GoHighLevel to manage our email sequences. Privacy policy: gohighlevel.com/privacy-policy
- Lovable.dev — application development and hosting platform
- Supabase — database and backend infrastructure
3.2 Community Features
Content you post in SproutMap's community (questions, progress posts, photos you share) is visible to other registered users. Do not share information in community posts you wish to keep private.
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or property of SproutMap, or protect against legal liability.
3.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Retention
- Active account data: retained for the duration of your account
- Garden data (beds, plantings, seed inventory): retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 90 days of account deletion.
- Payment records: retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations (maintained by Stripe)
- Contact form submissions: retained for 12 months
- Deleted accounts: personal data purged within 90 days of deletion request, except where legal retention requirements apply
5. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability: request your garden data in a common format
- Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email, or by contacting us at privacy@sproutmap.app
California residents: You have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt-out of sale (we do not sell your data). To exercise your rights, contact privacy@sproutmap.app.

6. Cookies
SproutMap uses cookies and similar technologies for:
- Authentication: keeping you logged in across sessions
- Security: CSRF protection and session integrity
- Analytics: understanding how features are used (aggregated, not individual tracking)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent you from using core features of SproutMap including login.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password storage, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact security@sproutmap.app immediately.
8. International Transfers
SproutMap is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the US. By using SproutMap, you consent to this transfer.
9. Children's Privacy
SproutMap is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact privacy@sproutmap.app and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the app. Your continued use of SproutMap after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
